  Toddler Brain Development

Describes the ways in which parents and other caregivers can provide appropriate experiences during the critical first year of a child's development.

Explores the fascinating process of brain development during the first 15 months of life. Understanding how to stimulate this process can help give babies a better start.

Throughout the toddler period the brain continues to develop at an astonishing rate, and there is much we can do to promote optimal development.
The National Academy of Science recently published From Neurons to Neighborhoods: The Science of Early Childhood Development. This book documents the ways in which research has shown that children's emotional and social skills are just as important to school readiness as are cognitive and language skills. We have produced three videos based on From Neurons to Neighborhoods. Each video addresses an accomplishment from the early years that is a critical part of children's social and emotional health and well-being.
